Poor Diet 'May Trigger Asthma'

Dietary habits rather than air pollution or carpet dust could be behind a dramatic rise in asthma and allergies in the UK, according to an academic.

Professor Anthony Seaton, from the University of Aberdeen, suggests a link between the rise of asthma and the fall in fresh fruit and vegetable consumption in the UK.

The nutritional expert also says a high intake of salt and fatty acids could induce asthma while foods containing Vitamin E - such as nuts and fish - could prevent it.
