Tea makes melancholy a memory

"Kammaek-daejotang" better than hormone injections for easing depression Generally speaking, according to Oriental medicine, women are more likely to suffer from depression than men are. This is because men are usually categorized as "yang," or having an active, "warm" disposition. People of a yang nature find it easier to release inner stress and negative emotions.

"Yin," or cool, introspective people - and women are usually categorized as yin - however, are more apt to pen up their emotions and think about things too much. When a serious problem arises, a woman instinctively stresses over it more than a man, and therefore can more easily become depressed.

Of course, some men have more yin energy than the average woman, and vice versa. But this is the general rule in Oriental medicine.

Among women, depression occurs mainly in those in their mid-to-late 40s. At this time women don't worry about paying the bills so much, but children have grown up and left the house and a feeling of loneliness gnaws at the corners of the psyche. Many end up moping around and weeping, seemingly for no good reason.

Oriental medicine has a fantastically effective remedy for this, however, in the herbal brew Koreans call "kammaek-daejotang." This combination of three highly effective natural ingredients - the herb Koreans call "kamcho" as well as "maek" or wheat and "daechu," or jujube - is recommended by doctors of Oriental medicine (OMD) for women who suffer seemingly unidentifiable melancholy, as well as those with facial fever or chronic migraine headaches.

Kamcho is a powerful herb that neutralizes toxic wastes in the body, which OMDs believe to be the main culprit in causing a variety of diseases. The wheat and jujube serve to increase the effectiveness of this medicinal tea.

Making kammaek-daejotang is a snap. Just boil 20 grams of kamcho, 10 grams of wheat and about 8 jujubes in 2 liters of water for about half an hour.

Many people go to the hospital for an injection of hormones to cure depression, facial fever or headache. OMDs, however, do not think this is a good idea, because hormones not produced naturally in the body can wreak havoc on the body's ability to secrete hormones.

As a result, even greater injections of hormones are needed the next time around to keep the body in balance. This becomes a vicious circle, as, if the injections stop, physical condition deteriorates. If the injections continue, however, women risk obesity or more serious problems.

This is why the natural way of healing is so much more attractive.

So if you ever feel blue, give kammaek-daejotang a try.
