China's State Council is holding a grand reception Saturday at the Great Hall of the People to mark the 51st anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China -- Jiang Zemin, Li Peng, Zhu Rongji, Li Ruihuan, Hu Jintao, Wei Jianxing and Li Lanqing are all present at the reception.

About 1,000 people, including foreign diplomatic missions in Beijing and representatives from across the country are attending the reception.

Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji delivered a speech at the reception.
