Learn More About Herbal Remedies

(NUISM) - Today's consumers are taking on more responsibility for their health than ever before, and many are turning to herbal supplements such as St. John's Wort, Cat's Claw and Ginseng.

For thousands of years, advanced civilizations have used herbal remedies to address a variety of health issues. The mythical healing power of many herbs has recently been substantiated by Western research that includes scientific evidence and clinical studies. In fact, the majority of today's users believe herbs have a wide range of preventative and restorative health benefits.

According to a recent Gallup survey, one-third of American adults said they used herbal supplements in 1998 compared to half that number three years earlier. With more and more of the population choosing to take an herbal supplement, there is a growing need for reliable information in order to make that choice.

The survey found that nearly half of today's herbal users feel they know very little about dietary supplements and their benefits. It also showed that two-thirds of herbal users consider it very important that the label information specify benefits of a particular herb. Four in 10 herbal users said they would hesitate to take an herbal supplement because they do not have enough information about the product.

Now, with just a twist of the wrist, purchasers of Sundown Herbal products can find answers to their questions and more. Sundown's new Twist 'N Learn label, covered under a newly issued U.S. Patent, works like an herbal information center, but with the advantage that it is always at the consumer's fingertips and not left behind at the store.

The Twist 'N Learn label features a twistable outer label with a transparent window that twists to reveal a second label underneath. This label displays four windows of information on the herb's origin, its active ingredients, potential benefits and other complementary herbs that can be used with the product.

"Our new Twist 'N Learn label provides consumers with what they want and need - educational information about herbs," says Staci Glovsky, director of marketing for Sundown Herbals.

Available at leading food, drug and mass merchandiser retail outlets, Sundown Herbals is a major brand of Rexall Sundown, Inc., which develops, manufactures and distributes vitamins, nutritional supplements and other consumer health products.
