China Clones Gene Inductive to Brain Tumor

A hospital in China took the lead in the world to clone genes that result in brain tumors, thus paving the way for possible gene therapy against the disease.

Called the low-oxygen inducing factor, the gene was recently cloned from a galotinous tumor sample from a human brain by a hospital attached to the Xuzhou Medical College in east China's Jiangsu Province after almost four years of experiments.

Existing inside the human body, the gene could induce various diseases and cause nerve system damage and brain tumors.

A Shanghai biological technology corporation has recently detected that the cloned gene shares an identical sequence with that reported in the international gene database
