More than 9,000 people have received medical services from Beijing Yanhuang Chinese Medicine Hospital, which opened to the public last December. The hospital is a part of Beijing's government plan to promote community medical service to Beijing residents in the recent two years. According to Professor Chen Wenbo, director of the hospital, Chinese medicine is making a significant contribution to the community medical service programme in Beijing. The hospital holds a staff of 108 elite Chinese medicine doctors, many of whom are top-class authorities in the Chinese traditional medical field. The hospital features a health centre which offers treatments with Chinese characteristics including acupuncture, massage, medical bath, qigong and medicated food banquets.
