Objective: To observe the therapeutic affects of treating chronic hepatitis B with Song Zhi Tai capsule.

Methods: Of 62 cases of chronic hepatitis B in the series, 53 cases are chronic active tape, 9 cases, and chronic persisting tape. All the cases are HBsAg, HBeAg and HBV-DNA positive; ALT of blood serum is abnormal for one year. Apart from the routine treatment for liver, 32 Patients of the therapeutic group take Song Zhi Tai capsule, 3 pills once, 3 times a day. The control group only takes the routine treatment, 3 months make a course. Observation index: symptom HBsAg, HBeAg, and HBV-DNA, liver-kidney function and the routine index of blood and urine.

Results: The total effective rate of the therapeutic group is 84.4%, the control group, 66.7%. There is no obvious improvement for hepatosplenomegaly in two groups. The restoration of liver function for therapeutic group is 45 days on average. HBsAg and HBeAg turning-negative rates were 31.2% and 18.8% in the therapeutic group, respectively. In the control group, they were 6.7% and 3.3% respectively (P< 0.05).

Conclusion: Song Zhi Tai Capsule can obtain the remarkable therapeutic results in treating chronic hepatitis B, restoring liver function, promoting HBsAg, HBeAg turning-negative. It is Safe and has no side effects.
