Clinical Study on GSF Therapy in Treatment of Diabetes Mellitus

  
Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of GSF Therapy in treating diabetes mellitus, Which is treatment by a preparation formed by organic combination of Chinese herbal prescription Shenqi Jiangtang Decoction (the decoction mainly containing Genseng and astragalus for reducing blood sugar) and the bio-technique product, prepared bee forage and bee jelly.

Methods: l28 patients were divided randomly into the GSF group and the control group. The 80 cases in the GSF group were treated with GSF according to the blood sugar level and combined with other hypoglycemic agents when necessny. GSF No. I 5g + GSF No. II 5ml when fasting blood sugar l0 mmol/L were given once or in twice every day. When fasting blood sugar > l4 mmol/L, or the patients were already treated with maximum dosage of sulfonylureas or bicarbamiches, patients were be treated by GSF as above-motioned and combined with l/2-2/3 dose of previous used hypoglycemic agent, and which might be reduced properly depending on the blood and urinary glucose levels and symptoms of patients. The control group was treated with Glibenciamide l.25-7.5mg twice a day and dimethylbiguanide 250-500mg, 2-3 times a day given postcibal, for 45 days as a therapeutic course.

Result: The markedly effective rate was 5l.3% and the total effective rate 95% in the GSF group and those in the control group were 39.6% and 93.8% respectively. The markedly effective rate in the former was superior to that in the latter, but the total effective rate in the two groups was similar

Conclusion: GSF had good effect in improving the symptoms and blood lipid, especially in preventing complications such as peripheral neuropathy.
