Observation on Effect in Treating Hypertension and Its Complication by TCM Therapy

　　
Objective: To discuss the role of TCM therapy according to differentiation of symptoms and signs (MDSS) in reversing left ventricular hypertrophy caused by hypertension and its effect on function of left ventricular myocardial ischemia and ventricular arrhythmia.
　　
Methods: clinical study on 85 primary hypertension patients (stage II and stage III) with left ventricular hypertrophy was conducted. Among them, 40 cases were with myocardial ischemia and 70 cases with ventricular arrhythmia. They were randomly divided to 2 groups: 60 cases for TAODSS treatment group and 25 cases for control group. Prescriptions were given to the TAODSS treatment group based on the criteria in Guiding Principles for Clinical Study on Treatment of Hypertension by TCM New Drugs. Among them, l8 cases were type of excessive heat of the liver; 20 cases were type of deficiency of yin essence brings on pathological hyperactivity of Yang; 12 cases were type of deficiency of both Yin and Yang; l0 cases were type of phlegm-dampness; 25 cases of the control group took orally nifedipine, l0-20mg, 3 times daily If the blood pressure of the cases of the 2 groups could not be controlled below l60/90mmhg after l5 days, captopril was added to them l2.5-25mg, 2 times daily 6 months made a period of treatment for the 2 groups.

Result: Improvement of clinical symptoms: Overall effective at in TAODSS treatment group was 98.33%, overall effective rate in control group was 84.00%,. P<0.05; Routine electrocardiogram NST, ΣST, STmax, T, NT varied obviously before and after treatment in TAODSS treatment group, P0.05. But for complicated VA such as VT and RONT phenomenon, the effect in TAODSS treatment group was better than that in control group, P<0.05.

Conclusion: TCM TAODSS can improve effectively regulatory mechanisms of hemodynamics and neurohumor associated with hypertension, leading to reduce blood pressure, reverse LVH, improve function of left ventricular and myocardial ischemia as well as reduce ventricular arrhythmia.
