90 Cases of Hyperviscosity Blood Syndrome Treated with "Jiang Nian Jian Nao Wan"

Objective: To observe the clinical effects of hyperviscosity blood syndrome treated with Jiang Nian Jian Nao Wan.

Methods: 90 cases of hyperviscosity blood syndrome were treated with Jiang Nian Jian Nao Wan. Among them, 36 cases accompanied with hypertension, l9 cases critica1 hypertension, 12 cases coronary heart disease. l00 cases were as control group, among them, 33 cases accompanying hypertension, 26 critical hypertension, 9 cases coronary heart disease. Clinical symptoms were mainly dizziness, tinnitus, head and eyes distending pain, red face and ears, dysphoria, palpitation and amnesia, insomnia lassitude in loin and legs, red tongue and taut pulse. TCM differentiation is deficiency of liver-Yin and kidney-Yin, hyperactivity of the liver-Yang, stagnancy of Qi and blood stasis. TCM group was given Jiang Nian Jian Nao Wan. It consists of fleece-flower root, dogwood fruit, red sage root, prepared rehmannia root, Acorus Calamus, uncaria stem with hooks, cassia seed, chrysanthemus flower, curcuma root, bitter cardamon, gastrodia tuber, earthworm, Prunella spike, tribulus fruit, radish seed, notoginseng, margarite and wild or spiny jujuba seed. The recipe herbs were powdered and made into honeyed pills given twice daily. The western medicine group was given fish oil capsules, two capsules each time, 3 times daily. In the beginning l5 days, 250ml of 5% glucose was given i.v, plus 0.75U Fu She Qing Shuan Mei (Agkistrodonhalys removing thrombus enzyme). Other TCM and western drugs affecting blood rheology were stopped. For the patients with blood pressure obviously higher than normal adults, Western medicines were used together to decrease blood pressure, the drug dosage was reduced with decrease of blood pressure. The two groups were observed for 3 months.

Results: Jiang Nian Jian Nao Wan has better effects on decreasing plasma pacific viscosity whole viscosity and sympexis index than western medicine group with significant difference (p<0.05). 55 cases of accompanying hypertension were in TCM group, l5 cases stopped western medicine to decrease blood pressure and 20 cases decreased dose of western medicines obviously But western drug group can not be stopped drugs. The patients in TCM group had better survival quality than that of western drug group.
