Clinical Observation on 271 Cases of NSCLC Treated with "Yi Fei Kang Liu Yin"

　　
Objective: To observe the results of therapy with "Yi Fei Kang Liu Yin" in treating NSCLC.
　　
Methods: We selected 27l cases (95 cases of Squamous carcinoma, l35 cases of adenocarcinoma and 41 cases of adenosquamus carcinoma), which were diagnosed by TCM differentiation as deficiency of both Qi and Yin and by cytology and histology without either operation or radiotherapy. The 27l cases were graded in accordance with “TNM Staging standards for lung Cancer as formulated by the UICC. All the cases were divided into two groups for prognostic controlled observation:

(l) The "Yi Fei Kan Liu Yin" groups had l27 cases. "Yi Fei Kang Liu Yin" was given oraly in a dose of 30m1 t.i.d for 30 days as one course and two courses as a finished treatment

(2) The chemotherapy group had 64 cases. All patients were observed more than two courses.

Results: The WHO criteria for tumour response were used. l case was CR, l3 cases were PR. 89 cases were NC, CR+PR+NC was 8l.10% in  Yi Fei Kang Liu Yin group; 17 cases were PR, 53 cases were NC, PR+NC was 87.5% in 80 cases of  Yi Fei Kang Liu yin combined with the chemotherapy group, and 7 cases were PR, 39 cases were NC, PR+NC was 7l.88% in the chemotherapy group.

Metastasis Rate: Among l87 cases of III-stage, the metastasis rate 23.52% in 85 cases of "Yi Fei Kan Liu Yin" group and 35.7l% in 42 cases of chemotherapy group. Survival rate: l-year, 2-year, 3-year and 4-year survival rates were 73.09%, 32.0l%, l3.l8% and l3.l8 respectively, in the "Yi Fei Kang Liu Yin" group, and 7l.85%, 46.35%, 29.l9%, and 23.35% respectively in the “Yi Fei Kang Liu Yin" combined with chemotherapy group, and 37.6l%, l3.67%, 9.77% and zero in the chemotherapy group.

Median Survival time: 397 days in "Yi Fei Kan Liu Yin" group, 376 days in "Yi Fei Kang Liu Yin" combined to chemotherapy group, and 256 days in chemotherapy group. After treatment by "Yi Fei Kang Liu Yin" clinical symptoms were improved, KPS was elevated. The immune function (NK, LAK. IL-2, CD4, CD4/CD8) and blood elements were remarkable increased in "Yi Fei Kang Liu Yin" group, but a little decreased in the chemotherapy group.

It is indicated that the effects of both simple "Yi Fei Kang Lin Yin" and "Yi Fei Kang Liu Yin" combined with chemotherapy group were better than that of simple chemotherapy. Conclusion: "Yi Fei Kang Liu Yin" can be administered effectively to patients with NSCLC.
