Observation on Therapeutic Effect of Shengmai Injection in Treatment of

Observation on Therapeutic Effect of Shengmai Injection in Treatment of Diabetic Nephropathy

Objective: To explore the clinical effect of treatment of diabetes mellitus, elevate living quality of patients and screen effective drugs.

Methods: 56 cases of diabetes mellitus of non-insulin dependent type were selected as Group A, 30 of them conformed to III stage of Mogensen classification, 26 cases conformed to IV Stage were selected as group B. Their age ranged 53-75 years, l9 male and 37 female. There were no difference between groups. All the patients were given Shengnai Injection (SMI) 30ml by adding in to 5% glucose saline 250ml for intravenous dripping once a day for l0 days as one course, the next course would be applied after an interval of 3-5 days.

The effect of treatment was evaluated based on the following criteria of observation: fasting blood sugar serum insulin, plasma urea nitrogen (UN), serum creatinine (Cr), urinary protein quantitative test, urinary albumin excretion rate (AER), urinary β2-microglobulin (β2-MG), hemorheology triglyceride, total cholesterol, electrocardiogram and clinical symptoms.

Result: SMI did not show obvious influence on levels of blood sugar, insulin, triglyceride and total cholesterol, it could turn all the positive quantitative test of urinary protein to negative and lower the level of AER and β2-MG significantly (P<0.0l), but no one could reach normal range. The effect of Group A was better than that of Group B (P<0.05). All the l0 cases with slight abnormal high UN and Cr level in Group A restored to normal, but in Group B, only 50% of Cr and 92.33% of UN level restored to normal. Before and after the treatment, the hemorheologic parameters of the two groups were not different significantly, after treatment, plasma viscosity and erythrocyte aggregation index lowered significantly, and distortion index of red blood cell was unchanged.

Conclusion: SMI has a definite effect in treating diabetic nephropathy, it could improve the kidney function and renal microcirculation, decrease the protein excretion.
