Clinical and Experimental Study on the Treatment of Simple Obesity with Haidonghua

Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of Haidonghua Capsule (HDHC) on simple obesity.
　　
Methods: 66 patients with simple obesity were divided randomly into treatment group and control group. Patients in the treatment group were given HDHC orally and the patients in the control group was given Fenfluramine tablets orally. The therapeutic course was two months for both groups. Blood lipid, glucose and T3 before and after treatment were observed and the therapeutic effects of the two groups were compared. Experimental study was also conducted.

Result: On aspect of reducing obesity the total effective rate of the treatment group was 9l.23%, the control group 95%, the difference between them was insignificant. On aspect of improving clinical symptoms, the total effective rate of the treatment group was 97.82%, which was higher than that of the control group (30%) significantly HDHC could reduce blood TG and glucose and increase HDL-C, but had no effect on blood T3. Results of experimental study show that HDHC could decrease Lee's index in mice with nutritional obesity decrease the size of lipid cells but do not affect the blood T3, T4, insulin and aldosterone. The anorectic test was negative.　　

Conclusion: HDHC is an effective preparation for treating simple obesity without any side effects.
