Treatment of 67 Cases of Refractory Thrombocytopenic Purpura with"Xiao


 

Objective: To observe the clinical effects of TCD, Xiao Ban Zhi Xue Decoction on refractory thrombocytopenic Purpura.

Methods: Observation objects were ineffective patients of refractory thrombocytopenic purpura by various means in 1992-l997. The patients were divided randomly into treatment group (Xiao Ban Zhi Xue Decoction), 67 cases, and control group (western medicines), 32 cases. The treatment group was given Xiao Ban Zhi Xue Decoction, consisting of honeysuckle flower forsythia fruit, sarcandra, fleece-flower root, moutan bark, dried rehmannia root, and cogongrass rhizome, etc, one dose dai1y, decocted and twice given 30 days a course of treatment. The control group was given orally l-2mg/kg of prednisone tablets. When the symptoms improved, the dosage was changed into maintenance dose. Part patients were treated with gamma globulin and immunosuppressive factor, 30 days a course of treatment.

The standard of therapeutic effects was that, obviously effective: platelet recovering to normal level, no bleeding symptoms for 3 months; effective: platolet 0X109/L, no bleeding symptoms on the whole for more than 2 months; improved: platelet count and bleeding symptoms not improved or exacerbation.

Results: 5l cases of the treatment were obvious1y effective, l0 cases effective, 5 cases improved, l case ineffective, total effective rate being 98.5%. In the control group, 6 cases were obviously effective, l4 cases effective, 7 cases improved, 5 cases ineffective, total effective rate being 84.4%. There is significant difference between the two groups (P<0.0l).

Conclusion: Xiao Ban Zhi Xue Decoction has satisfactory therapeutic effects on refractory thrombocytopenic purpura.
