Objective:
To make a comprehensive evaluation on the therapeutic effect, symptom improvement, adverse effect, patients' life quality and the price of "Lingjiao Jiangya" Tablet, Benazepril, Amlodipine and Indapamide.

Methods:
292 cases of mild and moderate hypertension patients were divide into 'Lingjiao Jiangya" tablet group (6 tablets every time, 3 times a day), Benazepril group (l0mg each time, once a day), Amlodipine (5mg each time, once every day) and Indapamide (2.5mg each time, once every day), with 73 cases in each group. The treatment was conducted continuously for 6 weeks. Indexes of blood pressure, heart rate, symptoms, adverse effects, blood routine, urine routine, liver and kidney function, ECG, patients' life quality were detected.
　　
Result:
( l ) Antihypertensive effects: After treatment, all the four groups of "Lingjiao Jiangya" Tablet, Benazepril, Amlodipine and Indapamide had a significant decrease of blood pressure with the effective rates being 94.52%, 83.56%, 87.67% and 93.l5% respectively. But there was no significant difference among the four groups in the therapeutic effect (P>0.05);

(2) Clinical symptoms: After treatment, the symptoms of dizziness, headache, insomnia, palpitation, lassitude in the loin and legs, numbness of limbs. dysphoria with feverish sensation in the chest, palms and soles, and tinnitus improved effectively. There was no significant difference among the four groups;

(3) Adverse effects: The occurrence rates of adverse effects in "Lingjiao Jiangya" Tablet, Benazepril, Amlodipine and Indapamide groups were 6.85%, l0.96%, 5.48% and 9.59% respectively;

(4) Patients' life quality: "Lingiiao Jiangya" Tablet, Benazepril, Amlodipine and Indapamide could raise the scores of SF-36 (medical outcome study 36-item short form health survey) in hypertension patients;

(5) Comprehensive evaluation: The final scores of the four groups derived from comprehensive evaluation of hypotensive effect, symptom improving, adverse effects, life quality and drugs' price were in an order of Indapamide, "Lingjiao Jiangya" Tablet, Amlodipine and Benazapril from the highest to the lowest.

Conclusion:
Comprehensive evaluation reveals that "Lingjiao Jiangya" Tablet is an effective Chinese herb preparation in treatment of hypertension patients.
