Objective: To observe the effect of Sian capsule with Enalapeil on through-peak ratio in the treatment of hypertension.

Methods: 60 cases of patients with hypertension II, III Stages were divided into treated group and control group at random. The patients suffering from secondary hypertension and primary hypertension were not included with severe heat, brain and kidney damage. No remarkable difference in ratio of sex, age, conditions and duration and Stag of illness in the two groups, they were comparable. The patients in the two groups stopped taking drugs effecting the cardiovascular vessels for two weeks. l0 mg of enalapril each time, 4 times a day for each patient in the control group.5mg enalapril a day combined with 4 capsules once, 3 times a day of Sian capsule (Consisting of Rhizoma Coptidis, Radix Puerariae, Hirudo etc. and has the function of clearing the heat, subduing the liver, resolving phlegm and removing the Stasis.) in the treated group. Four weeks make a course. Biox-l80 Auto Blood Pressure Monitoring Device was used for monitoring blood Pressure. The trough-peak ratio means the ratio of trough effect to the peak effect.

Trough effect: the average lowering of blood pressure after the late administration of the drug and 2 hours before the next administration.

Peak effect: The average lowering of blood pressure during before or after 2 hours of the biggest lowering period after administration of the drug.

Result: According to the White evaluation criteria, the markedly effective: blood pressure reached the normal level >90%; effective: 50-90%; ineffective 0.05) between the two groups.

Conclusion: Sian Capsule and enalapril can stably decrease blood pressure and improve obviously Insulin-resistance.
