Depending on clinical practice in several years, the author holds that the key link in TCM pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus is the functional disorder of digestion and metabolism due to Spleen-Deficiency. It causes the essence couldn't be utilized normally by body unable to transform sugar to nutrition for nourishing viscera, limbs and skeletal, Meridian and Collateral blocked with turbid phlegm and blood stasis. From this point the author proposes that diabetes mellitus could be treated by path of Spleen and insists that this point of view is of certain significance in guiding clinical practice.
