Experience on Syndrome Differentiation and Treatment of Rheumatoid


TO study the regulation in treating the Rheumatoid arthritis by traditional Chinese medicine and Chinese drugs, Treatment according to types of disease by Syndrome Differentiation.

For Sthenia Syndrome of Wind-Cold type, treated with modified Wutou Decoction (Aconite decoction), Wind-Damp type with Modified Yiyiren Decoction (Coicis decoction), Damp-Heat type with modified Sangluo Decoction (Mori Retinervus decoction) or Modified Dingshi Qingluo Yin (Ding's clearing collateral’s decoction).

For deficiency syndrome of Liver-Kidney Deficiency with Cold- damp Block type, theated with Modified Duhuo Jisheng Decoction (Angelica Pubescent and Loranhi decoction), Qi-blood deficiency with Cold-Damp Block type, treated with Modified Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction (Astragali Cinnamomum five drugs decoction). The recipes introduced may be modified according to manifestation of patients.

Discussion: For Sthenia Syndromes, to differentiate mainly the Cold and Heat, treated dominantly by getting rid of evil pathogens, methods of removing Wind, Dispersing Cold, Dispelling Damp and clearing Heat may be used respectively. For Asthenia Syndromes, to differentiate the Deficient visceral and treated with Strengthening body resistance to drive away the evil pathogens, with Strengthening Spleen to dispel Damp passing through the whole process of treatment and shouldn't neglect to activating blood circulation to remove stasis. Good effect may be obtained by selecting and using Chinese herbal medicines depending on characteristics of disease in location and symptoms; playing full the effect of external treatment such as smouldering and washing, ion-introduction therapy, wax therapy with Chinese drugs, infrared ray; ultra-red rays radiation, as well as acupuncture, moxibustion and massage.
