Composition and Preparation
The oral Spermarize is made of 11 kinds of traditional Chinese materia medica such as: Semen Cuscutae, Cornu Cervi and Herba Epimedii etc. It is extracted and prepared by scientific method. All the medicines in the prescription are included in the first part of Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China 1995. They have wide effects of improving body function and nontoxic. The preparing technology: the costly materials, Cornu Cervi Pantitrichum, is prepared as power, the others are extracted by water and prepared as liquid extract, then mix them all and make them into pills. One pill is 0.6g. The best extracting condition is chosen by orthogonel assay test. The quality standard: In the qualitative analysis it is affirmed that there is Cornu Cervi by powder microscopic-distinction test and there are Fructus Lycii and Radix Angelicae Sinensis by the thin layer chromatography. In the quantity analysis, total flavone of herba Epimedii is detected by ultraviolet, and stipulated to be over 0.10%. Polysaccharide is detected by oxybenzene sulfuric acid assay and its content is stipu1ated to be over 12 %. Because the pill's samples under the indoor temperature have been observed for two years, and each requirement accords with the quality standard, it is stable during the stored period. The storage time is two years.

Functions and indications

It invigorates spleen, replenishes spirit, nourishes Yin and regulates Yang. Indications: male infertility due to kidney Yin deficiency, aching and weakness of the loins and knees, sexual impotence, prospermia etc. Administration and dosage: Swallow. The usual dosage is 6 pills a time, three times daily for two months. Packing: It is packed in plastic bottle. Each big box has 16 units, one unit contains l2 bott1es, and there are 90 pills in a bottle. Storage: keep well closed and protect from heat and dampness.

Experiment Research
1). The animal experiment: the pill possesses the action of increasing weight on the appendix sex organs of the castrate animals and can markedly increase the animals sperm number and the sperm motility rate which are injured by the endoxan and decrease the sperm deformity rate. It has the actions of increasing wet weight of the rats sexual organs and its accessory sexual organs, especially its seminal vesicle and, prostate. It does not effect evidently on the serum testosterone and resultant of corpus luteum and has effect on the recovery of the serum testosterone decrease induced by endoxan in normal animals.
2). Acute toxic test animal: The mice are administrated the pill 45.0g/kg. Under the condition, the animal's largest volume and highest concentration, the LD50 of mice is calculated. The dosage goes beyond the clinical dose for170 times.
3).Long-term toxic test animal: 60SD rats whose weight are 86±15g are divided into 3 groups and half of them are male. They are given the suspended fluid of the pill ig 20g/kg/d, 10g/kg/d and ig distilled water 20ml/kg/d once a day respectively for six months. The pill has no distinctly effects on the body weight, blood routine test, function of liver, function of kidney, heart, liver, kidney, testes and ovary tissues of the anima1s. So the pill has no obvious toxicity.
4). Deformity causing test: The results of the test show that the pill doesn’t cause deformity on the sperm in normal animals and can not cause the deformity in the embryo of the rat and fetal rat.

Clinical Research
The prescription is taken from “Wu Zi Yan Zong Wan (Pill of Reproduction Consisting of Five Seeds) which is famous for male infertility in ABC of Medicine. Cornu Cervi, Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, Radix Dipsaci, Radix Glycyrrhiza, Herba Epimedii are added. It has the effects of replenishing the kidney, benefiting spirit, nourishing Yin, and invigorating blood. Since 1991, 300 male infertility patients have been treated with it and “Wu Zi Yan Zong Wan group has been set for contrast according to the clinical research plan. The results show the total effective rate was 93).33% in the test group and 80.67% in the control group. There are significant statistical differences between the two groups.
