386 cases of hyperplasia bone joints were treated with acupuncture and the result is almost satisfactory. Now report as follows: among 386 cases, 184 were female and 202 were male; 32 aged under 40 years old, 74 aged from 41 to 50 years old, 116 aged from 5l to 60 years old and 164 aged from 61 to 70 years old. 124 suffered from cervical vertebra 106 suffered from inflammation of hypertrophy vertebra, and 106 suffered from inflammation of hyperplasia or degeneration knee joints. The clinical main manifestations were pain in the limbs and joints, limitation of movement, numbness of the skin and muscles or local scorching and excruciating pain, bone ejection sound in movement. Four changes could be seen in X-ray graph: sharp margin joints, spur formation, smaller joint space and cartilage osteosclerosis. Blood lost was normal. The acupoints of treatment were three groups: (l) near cervical: Tianzhu (BL10), Bailao (Extral4), Dingchuan (Extral4), Dazhui (Dul4), Jingbidian (Extra), Jianyu (LI 15), Jianliao (S J14), Jianzhen (ST 9), Waiguan (SJ5), Dashu (UB 11), Yanglingqun (GB 34), Kunlun (BL 60); (2) Near lumber: Hutuojiaji (Extra 15), Mingmen (DU 4), Jizhong (DU 6), Yaoyangguan (DU 3), Shuigou (DU26), Weizhong (UB 40), Shenshu (UB 23), Zhishi (UB 52), Dachangshu (UB 25), Guanyuan (RN 4), Huantiao (GB 30), Xuanzhong (GB 39), Ashi points, Taixi (KI 3); (3) Near knee joints: Xiyan (Extra 36), Xiyanguan (GB33), Liangqiu (ST 34), Zusanli (ST 36), Yingu (KI 10), Ququan (LR 8), Yanglingquan (GB 34), Xuanzhong (GB 39). In general, the location of the joint disease was either on muscles or bones. So the manipulations were retaining and deep inserting the needles, uniform reinforcing-reducing method or heat reinforcing. After inserting the needle with twirling and rotating method and the patient got qi, the doctor rotating the needle forward with thumb 3-5 times and lifting the needle slowly and thrusting fast several times will a heat feeling came, then retaining the needle for about 20-30 minutes. The method can be taken once two days and the course of treatment was 10 times. At same time the cupping treatment was also available for 10 minutes, once two days. Among 386 patients, 8 (2.3%) were cured, 180 (48.2) markedly improved, 152 (39.3) improved, 46 (10%) unimproved, with the total effect rate of 89.9%. Analyzing the treatment results, we got the statistics relation between the effect of treatment and the course of the disease. X2=4.928, P=0.1578, P>0.01. So there were not obvious difference between the patients who had suffered more 2 years disease and that less than 2 years. From the treatment, we realized that acupuncture was much better to the slight bone hyperplasia than the heavy one. Acupuncture can improve or even relieve the manifestations and alleviate the suffering of the patients. X-ray graph did not show any obvious change after the treatment. Avoiding overtired and keeping warm can prevent the disease.
