Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of superficial needling in treatment of soft tissue injury.

Mehtods: Select filiform needles with suitable length according to the size of painful region of soft tissues injury, divide the diseased region into upper, middle and lower areas, insert ear needle into every area along the skin horizontally. Touch of needle body by doctor on cutaneous region of required, patient does not feel sore, numb and distending sensation of regular acupuncture. This method does not affect motor function of joints. The needle is remained for 30 minutes, or 24 hours when handles of needles are fixed with medical tape according to the state of disease.

Results: Since 1995, 100 cases of soft tissue injury have been treated with the method mentioned above. For comparison, after 100 cases are treated with regular needling method. The cure rate and effective rate of superficial needling group are 98% and 100%respectively, being significantly higher than those of regular needling group (p<0.0l), while the cure duration the cured in curative cases in superficial needling group is much shorter than that of regular needling group (P<0.05).
