Clinical Observation on the Analgesic Effect of Acupuncture in Treatment of

Objective: To observe the analgesic effect of acupuncture in treatment of vessel impediment (Bi).

Methods: First group of points: Zusanli (ST36) combined with Yanglingquan (GB43), second group of points: Tianzhu (BL10) combined with Anmian (Ex-HN): (1) Filiform needles were used to puncture the points 2-4cm in depth, and manipulated by rotating and twirling for 2min with a frequency of 120/min after the arrival of qi and retained for 30min. During the retention, needles were manipulated for 3 times; (2) A Meridians apparatus (JJ 304) was used. The intensity depends on the constitution of the patient and frequency of treatment. The current intensity was between 25 graduation, frequency 2-3 graduation. Continuous dense and disperse waves were adopted. Stimulation lasted from 30-120min. During the treatment, the patients were divided into two groups randomly for observation. Each patient received the first group of points and first stimulating parameters at the beginning, then tried the second group of points and second stimulating parameters.

Results: Of the 129 cases, the effective cases accounted for 71%, the improved cases 24%; ineffective 5%; the total effective rate was 95%. 9 cases had a Phenomenon of “Acupuncture Tolerance for 49 times to some extent. This indicated that (1) the analgesic effect was reduced, the difference of pain degree, pain endurance were minimized, the time for keeping the result was shortened when the frequency of treatments increased and needles retained for longer time; (2) when an apparatus of meridians was used, intensity of stimulation and combined points were fixed, the analgesic effect was reduced after increase of frequency of treatment. But when the stimulating intensity was strengthening, the analgesic effect could be improved. If one of the two point groups or the stimulating methods had a poor therapeutic effect, the Other point group and other stimulating method could work well in achieving analgesic effect.
