Clinical Observation on 33 Cases of Peptic Ulcer Treated with Daizhengao on

Objective: To observe the clinical result of peptic ulcer treated by applying medicinal paste on points.

Method: Daizhengao (medicinal paste instead of needles) was a formulae worked out after many years clinical practice, which was composed of Flos Caryophylli, Rhizoma Zingiberis, Radix Angelicae Dahuricae, Fructus Euodiae, Moschus, etc. The selected point included Zhongwan (CV12), Zusanli (ST36), Weishu (BL21), Pishu (BL20) and Ganshu (BL18). Daizhengao was applied to these points and covered with plaster and lasted for 3 hours for each treatment and then removed. Treatment was given once every day. 10 sessions were one treAneni course. The next course started after 3 day's interval. The therapeutic results were analyzed after 3 courses of treatment. 33 cases of peptic ulcer (PU) patients were observed. Standard for therapeutic effects:
(1)Standards for therapeutic effects in treatment various syndromes a) Cured: Both chief and accompanying symptoms disappeared completely.b) Markedly effective: Both chief and accomplice symptoms were relieved obviously, or some chief symptoms relieved slightly, other chief seconds -symptoms disappeared completely.c) Effective: Both chief and accompanying symptoms were relieved or the chief symptoms were not relieved, but the other symptoms disappeared completely.d) Ineffective: Both chief and accompanying symptoms remained the same;
(2) Standard for therapeutic effects of gastric endoscopes: a) Cured: PU disappeared complexly. There was local slight congestion, but without obvious swelling.b) Markedly effective: PU almost disappeared. There was obvious inflammation.c) Effective: Affected area of PU was reduced by over 50%in size. d)Ineffective: Affected area of PU was reduced by below 50% in size.

Result: The total effective rate of improved syndromes of Chinese medicine was 78.78%, and the markedly effective rate 60.60%. The total effective rate observed under gastric endoscope was 80.64%, and the markedly effective rate 38.70%. The contrast results indicated that this formula was effective in relieving epigastric pain and fullness, relieving cold limbs and aversion to cold, poor appatite, belching, acid regurgitation and diarrhea. Through gastric endoscope, it was fond that the affected ulcer areas were getting smaller than before. The IgG and IgM in serum were remarkably elevated after treatment (P0.05). Meanwhile, the effective rate had no significant difference between qi-stagnation, deficiency-cold syndromes (P>0.05).

Conclusion: Daizhengao (medicinal paste instead of needles) is an effective formula applied on points to restrain the section of gastric juice, control development of ulcer and promote the healing of peptic ulcer.
