Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of comprehensive treatment of cerebrovascular disease with traditional Chinese medicine.
Methods: (1) Comprehensive treatment group: after emergency treatment and the patient's conditions got stable, comprehensive treatment was performed. For acupuncture, body points as 12 Jingrpoints, Shuigou (DU 26), Quchi (LI 11), Fenglong (ST 40), Taichong (LR 3) and scalp-acupuncture points as Motor Sensory Area of Foot (MS 8), Speech Area (MS 9, for aphasia), etc. were needled. For massage, finger pinching, rotatory kneading, Pulse pressing and fingertip Pressing manipulations were adopted, with each point being massaged for about 2 min (at a frequency of about 50 times/min). Chinese medicinal herbs for promoting blood circulation relaxing muscles and dredging meridians were used for fumigating and washing the affected region; (2) Medication group: Routine medicine treatment was given to all of these patients. For example, 20% mannitol was intravenously infused for lowering intracranial pressure; "Qingkailing" Injection was used for removing phlegm and activating blood circulation. Intravenous drip was conducted once or twice every day. When the patient's conditions got stable, Danshen (Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae) Injection or Ligustrazine Injection was infused intravenously, once daily, with 10 days being a therapeutic course.
Results: Of the 120 cases of the comprehensive treatment group, 52 cases (43.3%) were cured, 42 (35%) had remarkable improvement, 20 (16.7%) had improvement and 6 (5%) had no any effect, with the effective rate being 95%. In medication group, of the 68 cases, 20 cases (29.47%) were cured, 25 (36.8%) had marked improvement, 13(19.1%) had improvement and 10(44.7%) had no any effect, with the total effective rate being 85.3%. Riddit analysis showed that the therapeutic effect of comprehensive treatment group was significantly superior to that of medication group.
Conclusion: Comprehensive treatment of cerebrovascular disease with acupuncture, massage and Chinese medicinal herb fumigation and washing is evidently superior to simple medication in the therapeutic effect.
