Therapeutic Effect of 250 Cases of Migraine Treated with the Combination of
Objective: To observe the short-term and long-term therapeutic effect of migraine treated with point-injection, acupuncture and herbal medicine.
Methods: (1) Point-injection and acupuncture: To inject 10% Radix Angelica Sinensis injection into Neiguan (PC6), 2ml/Point on one side or both sides. Selection of acupoints depends on differentiation of syndromes; (2) Chinese herbal medicine: to use self-desired formula; (3) Treatment course: For point-injection and acupuncture therapies, one course consists of 12 treatments. Between courses, there is a 7 day's interval. For herbal medicine treatment, one course consists of one month's treatment. The total treatment courses are no more than 6 months.
Results: Short-term effect: of the 250 cases, 144 cases (57.6%) were cured, 94 cases (37.6%) were effective and the rest 12 cases (4.8%) had improvement, the total effective rate was 100%. Long-term effect: of the 250 cases, 119 cases (47.6%) were cured, 104 cases (41 .6%) were effective, 18 (7.2%) cases had improvement, 9 cases (3.6%) were ineffective, and the total effective rate was 96.4%.
Conclusion: The combination of point-injection and acupuncture therapies are used to relieve the symptoms and to control the recent attacks, while Chinese herbal medicine treatment is applied to adjust the pathological conditions (stagnation and deficiency) of the whole body and treat the root cause. The combination of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine has quite stable therapeutic effect in both short-term and long-term therapeutic effect for migraine.
