Objective: To observe the effect of The application of three needles on temporal region in treating nervous headache.

Methods: The patient should lie on his side or with face upwards. The 30#,2 inch stainless steel needle should be employed. After general Sterilization, the doctor applies the needles to the 3 acupoints. The first point is pinpointed as follows. On both temporal region, it is 2 inch from the brink of hair vertically above the highest tip of the ear. The 2nd and 3rd points are 1 inch anterior and posterior on the sable level respectively. The tip of needles is directed downwards, With an angle of 15-20 degree against the scalp. The needle is rotated gently while being inserted into the depth of l.5-2 inch into subcutaneous tissue. Rotating followed with lift-thrust methods is employed. After Qi comes, the needles are retained 20 minutes. The subsidiary points are Taiyang (EX-HN5), Hegu (LI4), Zusanli (ST36) and Baihui(GV20). The treatment is done once everyday and 10 treatments constitute one course of treatment. The observation is carried out for 3 courses.

Results: All the 58 patients are relieved of headache. 21 patients get well again after 1-2 courses of treatments and so do 37 patients after 2-3 courses. The entire effective rate is 100%.
