Objective: Intradermal needle was produced by filiform needle combining with needle retention. In recent years, we have made a systematic observation of 70 cases with die-hard asthma treated with intradermal needle, and a satisfied result was get.

Methods: In terms of the pattern and diagnostic standard stipulated by the Chinese government in 1988, 70 cases with asthma in outpatients department were selected. 48 cases were diagnosed as repletion pattern, and 22 cases as vacuity. Needle: special designed ringlike needle or filiform needle of 0.5-1cun. Acupoints for repletion pattern: Dingchuan. BL-17; Vacuity pattern: BL- 17. BL-23 or Ashi point on the back of the body. After disinfecting the skin of the patient, the needle should be punctured under the skin running lengthwise. The skin should be moved after puncturing the needle, then fix the needle with rubberized fabric. The intradermal needle should be applied once a week, and 5 days for needle retention. After a rest of 2days, the intradermal needle should be applied for the next time, and the course of the therapy is 4 weeks.

Results: the effective rate: 75.72%; the rate of disappearing of the clinical symptom: 35.72; the significant effective rate: 40%; the rate of no effect: 24.28%. The effective rate of repletion pattern: 85.42%, the effective rate of vacuity pattern 54.54%. After comparing the cases diagnosed as repletion pattern with the cases as vacuity pattern, the more effective result was made in the group of the repletion pattern. (P<0.01). In the pulmonary ventilation test, the vital capacity, the time vital capacity, and the maximum pulmonary ventilation volume were better accompanied by the improved of the clinical symptom. The eosinocyte in the blood of 30 cases were also observed, and the result of 26 cases (86.6%) showed a obvious decrease of eosinocyte. "The instrument of channel character of the body" produced by Beijing Kangwei electric medical limited company was used to observe the balance situation of the cases before and after the treatment. The result before treatment: imbalance of gall bladder channel: 10 cases (28.6%); imbalance of kidney channel: 8cases (22.8%); imbalance of bladder channel: 6cases (17.1%), imbalance of lung channel: 4cases (11.4%); imbalance of liver channel: 4cases (11.4%). 56% of the channel of imbalance recovered normally.

Conclusion: The effective rate of 70 cases in a month with intradermal needle was 75.72%, and the effective rate of cases diagnosed as repletion pattern was better. With intradermal needle, the pulmonary ventilation, eosinocyte, the allergic constitution, the balance of the channel can be improved. The result showed that this therapeutic way was very simple and worth popularizing, and produced no pain and side effect.
