Experimental Exploration and Research Prospect of Physical Basis and
The meridian theory is a very important and fundamental component of the traditional Chinese medical theory, meridian system but the modern biology and medicalcircles have long argued on such key issues as its existence in reality, and what its physical basis and nature actually are. Such key issues have to be systematically clarified with scientific theory through strict experimental explorations and verifications. By research, we find out: (1) Morphological location in 3-dimentions for 50-60 acupoints in common uses and publishing a 30-Topography handbook and discs of the acupoints. It contains: a)XCT morphology in 3D, b)MRI morphology in 3D, c)Anatomy morphology in macro/micro view, d)PIXE mapping graphics for the concentrated elements individually, and its absolute content. The physical basis of meridians and acupoints is in a complex system mainly of connective tissue and interwoven with the blood capillaries, nerves, lymph vessels, etc. This system, we call it connective tissue structures, is not only the carrier of various organs, tissues and cells, but also performs the functions of transmission and adjustment of substances, messages and energy with the cells; (2) The preliminary discovery finds that within the wavelength range of 9-20 pm, there is a specific waveband of high efficiency for transmission of infrared ray exists in the collagenous fiber in a liquid crystal state in the physical basis. There exist a characteristic band in collagen fiber that transports infrared light efficiently; (3) There is characteristic spectrum of infrared radiation at body surface of acupoint; (4) we have the reasons to hypothesize that the polyglycan-water colloid system is surely attend in the physiological process in human body it are correlated to the concept of "Qi", the later is one of the key concepts of the traditional Chinese medicine; (5) The preliminary discovery finds that there are concentrated elements of Ca, P, K, Fe, Zn, Mn, Cr etc. with in the deep layer connective tissue structures in locations corresponding to acupoint; (6) There are other two aspects we should pay attention: meridian evolution and internal organs' interrelated.
