In the present paper, the author summarizes his clinical experience in many years and raises his viewpoints about the essence of channels and acupoints. The author holds that's channels mainly consist of nervous system, vascular system and lymphatic system of the human being to maintain the regular life activity. It is the fourth network supplementary system, except the nervous, vascular and lymphatic system. The main structure of channels is made up of substance which diffuse all over the body; originate the essence of the internal organs and are controlled by nervous, vascular and lymphatic systems. The channel system also plays function of mediators among cells of the human body, carries various information of life activity and link cells and tissues in various parts to form an unity. Acupoints are the reactive points of normal and abnormal life activities in human being, most of them distribution are located near the nerve trunks and blood vessels, and have permeability and radiation action. The acupoints also are various in energy, sensitivity an propagating speed of evoked sensation along meridian: which determine the therapeutic effects of the acupoints.
