A New Approach to Scalp Acupuncture: Location of Skull Suture and Its
In the present paper, a new scalp acupuncture locating method based on the location of skull suture is introduced. The authors hold that the functional location method of cerebral cortex for scalp acupuncture is used in clinic by strong stimulation of the local point area which is a near treatment action on encephalopathy while through the skull suture, the brain is more close to scalp and the information is easier to be transmitted. The brain is located in the skull and consists of "brain marrow". As the center of the nervous system, it controls many activities of the human body, so the scalp acupuncture has been widely adopted to treat encephalopathy and other diseases. In this paper, the authors put forward a new conception or theory of skull suture. Some practical evidence and clinical experience have proved the practical value of skull suture, including coronal suture, lambdoid suture and sagittal suture. In clinical treatment, coronal suture (from coronal point to bilateral temples), stimulation has a good therapeutic effect on motor disturbance of limbs and diseases of the upper limb. The Governor Vessel goes through lambdoid suture which can be used to treat diseases of the Governor vessel and the body trunk. Sagittal suture (from the vertex suture to the both sides of the occipal part) stimulation has a good effect on sensory disturbance and diseases of the lower limb.
The authors hold that some diseases can be treated more quickly by means of stimulation near the skull suture. The skull suture is of an important significance in both theory and clinical application.
