Objective: To explore efficacious cure for hypertension and test and verify the blood-pressure-reducing effect of imitative ear-acupuncture instrument (Kangsen blood-pressure-reducing instrument).

Methods: (l) Clinical observation: We treated l09 cases of primary hypertension with Kangsen blood-pressure-reducing instrument in clinic; (2) Experimental research: Rat hypertension models produced by tying4o-cause-stress method were given by stimulation of electric balance and electric pulses on the ear with Kangsen blood-pressure-reducing instrument. A control group was set for comparison.

Results: (1) Among the l09 hypertension patients, 53 cases are remarkably effective (48.6%), 4l effective (37.6%), l5 no effect (l3.8%). The total effective rate is 86.2%. After the treatment, the blood pressure was reduced by SBP 7. l9 ± 0.l4mmHg, DBP l3.02±0.25mfnHg; (2) The rats of the control group showed an increase in blood pressure 1 week later' After 2 and 3 weeks, the pressure remained above the level before treatment. As for the Kangsen blood-pressure-reducing instrument group, the rise in blood pressure is much milder than that of the control group. There exists a significant statistica1 difference (P<0.05)

Conclusion: Kangsen blood-pressure-reducing instrument is a household acupuncture & hygiene instrument that is made under the theory of TCM ear-acupuncture in combination with modem bioelectricity theory and modem holographic medicine. It produces ear-acupuncture effect by influencing auricular blood-pressure-reducing valley of the hypertension patient. The purpose of curing hypertension is reached by means of adjusting the balance of Yin & Yang as well as bioelectricity.
