Treatment of 62 Cases of Cervical Spondylosis with Acupuncture, Point


 

Objective: The comprehensive therapy with acupuncture, point massage and Guasha along meridians was applied to treat, cervical spondylosis.

Methods: (l) Acupuncture. Points: Baihui (GV 20), the corresponding Jiaji points, Ashi-points, Fengchi (GB20), Tianzhu (BL10), Dazhui (GV14), Lieque (LU7), Quchi (LI11) and Hegu (LI4).The treatment was given once a day and the needles were retained for 30 minutes. 30 treatments made a course; (2) Point massage: Fingertip Pressing method was applied on Baihui (GV20), pressipg and kneading on Fengchi (GB20), Tianzhu (BL10) and the bilateral sides of the cervical vertebrae, grasping method on Jianjing (GB21) and Pressing on Quchi (LI1l), Waiguan (TE5) and Heguu (LI14). Rubbing method was applied from the neck to the hand and on threeyang meridians of hand for 6 times. Circular kneading was applied on the head, neck, Governor vassal and Bladder Meridian for 6 times. The treatment was given once a day and 30 treatments made a course; (3) Guasha along meridians: Guasha therapy was applied on three lines. The first line was on Governor Vessel, from Fengfu (GV16) to Yaoyangguan(GV3), the second line on bilateral Bladder Meridians, from Yuzhen (BL9), Tianzhu (BL10) to Shenshu (BL23) and the third line on bilateral Gallbladder Meridians, from Fengchi (GB20) to Jianjing (GB21) and the Large intestine Meridian, from Jianyu (LI15) to Hegu (LI4). The treatment was given once every five days and 8 treatments made a course.

Results: Of 62 cases, 32 cases (51.6%) were cured and 30 cases (48.4%) improved.

Conclusion: The comprehensive therapy with acupuncture, point massage and Guasha along meridians could receive satisfactory effect for treatment of cervical spondylosis.
