Clinical Research on the Coordinated Application Of Centro-quare Needling

Objective: To observe the clinical therapeutic effect of prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc treated by the coordination of quintuple and Shu-point puncture.

Methods: Based on the theory of internal Classic, the needling was coordinated with the Shu-point needing, and the lifting, thrusting and rotating techniques were combined together. For the centro-square picture, the Jiaji points on the edicted vertebrae were selected bilaterally. The needle was inserted along the idespace of two transverse spinal processes perpendicularly to the vertebrai body and deep to the din mater of spinal cord. The lifting, thrusting and rotating techniques were applied on each needle till warm and distension sensation were received by the patient. Ten treatments made a course and the treatment was given once a day.

Results: 55 cases of hyperosteogeny of lumbar vertebrae and 40 cases of prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc were treated. The therapeutic effects were determined by the clinical symptoms. The clinically cured was determined by complete disappearance of the symptoms, the remarkable effected by basic disappearance of the symptoms and no effect by no significant relieving of the Symptoms. Of 55 cases of hypersteogeny of lumbar vertebrae, 50 cases were clinically cured, 4 cases remarkably effective and 1 case had no effect. The total effective rate was 98.2%. Of 40 cases of prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc, 28 cases were basic cured, 10 cases remarkably effective and 2 cases had no effect. The total effective rate was 95.0% .

Conclusion: The coordination of centro-square and Shu-point punctore, as well as the needling technique benefited therapeutic effect. Concerning anatomy, since Governor Vessel went in the spinal cord region, needling Governor Vessel points regulate spinal cord function, and since Hua Tuo Jia Ji points were located on the spinal nerve, needling those points could regulate spinal nerve. Both aspects combined together had a good analgesic effect.
