Objective: To observe the clinical therapeutic effect of acute lumbar sprain treated with month acupuncture.

Methods: The lumbar point located on the midline of the frenulum of superior lip was selected. The needle was inserted obliquely at 40°, 0.5cun deep, the lifting, thrusting and rotating techniques were avoided. The needle was retained for 20 to 30 minutes while the patient was asked to move the lumbar region.

Results: Two cases were treated by the therapy and both were cured after one treatment.

Conclusion: The month acupuncture required that the needle was inserted shallowly from the mucosa without needling sensation and pain obtained. The manipulation was simple. The therapeutic effect was definite for treatment of lumbar sprain.
