Objective: To observe on the treatment of apoplectic hemiplegia with Bushen Huoxue Tang and Kangweiling Capsule.

Methods: 53 patients with confirmed diagnosis were selected. Among them, there were 47 cases of cerebral infarction, 6 ones of cerebral hemorrhage. 31 of them were left hemiplegia and 22 right hemiplegia. All the patients were given Bushen Huoxue Tang and Kangweiling Capsule. The Bushen Huoxue Tang was composed of Radix Polygoni Multiflori, Radix Salvias Miltiorrhizae, Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae, Fructus Ligustri Lucidi, Radix Rehmanniae Praeparatae, Herba Ephedrae, Radix Glycyrrhizae, Rhizoma Chuanxiong, Radix Paeoniae Rubra, and Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae. The Kangweiling Capsule was composed of Agkistrodon Acutus, Scorpio, Hirudo, Radix Notoginseng, Scolopendra and so on.

Result: 28 cases were cured, 15 cases markedly effective, 10 cases effective, the total effective rate was 100%.

Conclusion: (l) In the treatment of hemiplegia, it must be to nourish the kidney essence because it can go upward to supplement the brain; (2) Insect drugs should be used as earlier as possible to Promote the blood circulation and remove obstruction in Channels; (3) The therapeutic efficacy can be increased by the application of Herba Ephedrae flexibly.
