70% impotency cures Viagra imitations

Local drug administration officials have found that more than 70 per cent of the medicines sold as a cure for impotency in Shanghai's markets contain sildenafil citrate, the active substance in Viagra, reports Eastday.com.
All the medicines are made in other provinces. Some of manufacturing approvals were found to be forged, said Wang Longxing, director of Shanghai Drug Administration.

The US-based pharmaceutical giant Pfizer is the patent holder of Viagra. And no Chinese medicine company is allowed to make imitation products till 2014.

Misuse of sildenafil citrate can prove to be fatal, a fact that has been worrying health-care officials.

No such reports, however, have been received till now.
