A total of 42 traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) practitioners on Wednesday participated in a national examination to receive licences to continue their medical work at local hospitals, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday.

Shenzhen is the country's pilot city in conducting the examinations for doctors of Chinese medicine.

The examination is organized by the Ministry of Public Health.

Those who cannot pass the examinations will no longer be allowed to work as TCM doctors in local hospitals or to run private clinics.
