A US report has shown that complementary medicine is still widely used by those infected with HIV, despite improvements in anti-AIDS drugs. The study by the Medical College of Ohio, in Toledo, claims that, among 191 HIV-positive outpatients, 67 per cent said they had used alternative therapies at some point to control their condition and 40 per cent reported current use. The findings are published in the journal AIDS Patient Care and STDs.
