Objective: Observe the clinical effect of "Shandian" point on the lower limb in the treatment of sciatica.

Methods: Select "Shandian" point on the lower limbs(6 cun lateral to the forth sacral vertebrae) as the main point, and Shangliao (BL31), and Ciliao (BL32) as the supplementary points. Puncture the "Shandian"point 3 to 4 cun deep with strong
　　stimulation by lifting and thrusting the needle to make the needling sensation to the toes. No retention of needle is given or retain the needle for 25 minutes. Apply sparrow-pecking moxibustion on Shangliao (BL31) and Ciliao (BL32). The treatment is given once every other day and 5 times constitute one course.

Results: After three courses of treatment, Aamong 78 cases, 74 are cured, and 4 were
　　Ineffective. The curative rate vwas 94.9%. Among them, 40 cases were cured by one course, 18 cured by two courses, 12 cases by three courses, and 4 by more than thee courses.

Concluson: This method is used to treat sciatica with strong
　　needling senation, being short period of course and
　　satisfactory thempeutic effect.
