Traditional Chinese Medicine（TCM ) is legalization in Belgium and European Union --a great break in Europe.

It is reported that insurance companies begin to accept acupuncture as one of their insurance category according to the excellent clinic results. At the same time, Chinese Medicine Association is founded in European Union after the long-term efforts of TCM practitioners. Chinese Medicine has been accepted by the conservative European doctors and have gained a legal status.

It is introduced that acupuncture will be one part of the Belgium Medical Insurance after the effort of the Belgium Acupuncturist Federation. Belgium Independent Medical Insurance Benefit Association and a big bank will have the acupuncture treatment insurance since January 1, 2001.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of European Union has come into existence in Belgium. There are 29 associations from 15 countries joining this organization. It will become an important role in boosting the progress of theories, practice and communications of Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as ensuring the rights and interests of the members. It will accept the Chinese Medicine Associations from the other member countries of the European Union in the future.

Professor Guoming Lin, from Zhejiang Province, has been invited to take part in the Belgium Acupuncturist Federation as an expert of TCM and will become the founder-member of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of the 15 countries in European Union.

Prof. Lin said that the foundation of Belgium Acupuncture Federation and Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of European Union has a very important significance because it means the legal status of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Europe. It should be the mainstream trend that the western medicine and oriental medicine accepting and reinforcing each other.
