Objective: To observe the clinical effects of arrest of bone marrow caused by tumor chemotherapy with Shen Di Decoction.

Methods: The recipe is 459 of prepared rehmnnia root, 12g of Panax Ginseng, 45g of fresh Astragalus Membraneceus, 30g of Rhizoma Polygonati, 10g of Semen Cuscutae, 10g of Fructus Corni, 30g of Caulis spatholobi, 12g of tangerine peel, etc. For thrombocytopenia, 12g of peanut coat should be added. If the patients feel mouth dry, Rhizoma Polygonati Odorati and Flos Lonicerae should be added administration: All the patients of treatment group began taking the formula, when thrombocytopenia was determined. The herbs ware decocted and one dose daily. The control group of thrombocytopenia was given western medicine. Antaisu Tablet, l.0 each time, 3 times daily. The control group of leukipenia was given batilol tablet 0.1 each time, 3 times daily. The thrombocytopenia group was tested blood routine examination and blood platelet, 3,7,9 days after taking the medicine. The leukipenia group was tested blood routine examination 5,7,9 days after taking the medcines.

Results:
　　1. The thrombocytopenia group:
　　(l) For the treatment group, the rate of blood platelets increased above the normal level was 92.3% at the 7 day and for the control group, it was 44.40/o. There were significant differences between the two groups (p<0.0l);
　　(2) the mean value difference before and after administration had significant difference between the two groups;
　　(3) At 3 day, the increasing rate of blood platelets in the treatment group was 92.3%, and in the control group it was 55.6% with significant difference between the two groups (p<0.ol).

2. The leukipenis group:
　　(l) For the treatment group, the rate of leukipenis increased above normal level was 74.8% at the 7 day, the control group 46.l%. There were significant differences between the two groups (p<0.01);
　　(2) The mean value difference before and after administration had significant difference between the two groups (p<0.0l).

Conclusion: Applying the recipe to treat arrest of bone marrow caused by tumor chemotherapy has the advantage of fast recovery, high recovery rate, certain effects and cheap price, etc.
