Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic effects of TCD preparation, Zi Dian Xiao Capsules, on allergic purpura.

Methods: The diagnosis standard of allergic purpura was based on the "Clinical Research Guide Principle of TCD and New Drugs". 78 cases were chosen and divided randomly into treatment group, 4l cases, and contro1 group, 37 Cases. The treatment group was given Zi Dian Xao Cguules, Which mainly consists of Lithospermum officinale, rubia root, hairy vein agrimony eclipta, red sage root, dried rehmannia root, moutan bark, etc. 6 capsules were given each time, 3 times daily. The control group was given antihistaminic and staptic drug, chlorpheniramine maleate 0.2-0.3mg/kg, 3 times daily, orally given and l0mg of adrenosem salicylate, vitamin<0.2g orally given 3 times daily. l4 days made one course of treatment for both groups. The ear swelling of mouse was caused with croton oil. The effects of Zi Dian Xiao Capsules on mouse ear swelling and the effects on capillary Permeability of mice were observed.

Results: 87% of the treatment group was cured, the total effective rate being 97.5%. 57.89% of the control group was cured, the total effective rate being 84.2l%. There is significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). The recurrence rates of the treatment group and control group are respectively l.66% and 7.89%. The experiments showed that Zi Dian Xiao Capsules cou1d obviously inhibit the mouse ear swelling caused by croton oil and significantly inhibit on rat skin capillary permeability increasing.

Conclusion: Clinical and experimantal researches show that Zi Dian Xiao Capsules has satisfactory therapeutic effects on allergic Purpura.
