Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of Jiannaojing Spray on senile dementia.
　　
　　Methods: 56 patients were selected which included l7 cases of senile dementia, l8 cases of vascular dementia, 2l cases of mixed dementia. The patients were randomly divided into 2 groups. The patients in treated group were given Jiannaojing Spray, Which made of Radix Astragali, Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae, Lignum Dalbergiae Odoriferae, Rbizoma Acori Graminei and so on. It was directly sprayed onto the nasopharyngeal mucosa, 2ml per time, 4 times daily Those in control group were given Duxil, l tablet per time, twice daily. 8 weeks constituted one therapeutic course.
　　
　　Result: In the treated group, l0 cases were marked effective, 2l cases effective, 4 cases ineffective, the total effective rate was 89%. In the control group, l case was marked effective, 7 cases effective, l3 cases ineffective, the total effective rate was 38%. In the therapeutic efficacy there was a significant difference between two groups.

Conclusion: It shows good effects to treat senile dementia with Jiannaojing Capsule.
