The Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), built in August 1956, has 5 colleges, 6 institutions, 37 labs, 8 teaching hospitals, and national pharmaceutical clinical test and evaluation center, Sichuan traditional Chinese medicine cull opinion center, nationwide Chinese medicine specimen center. The university library is in area of 6764sm, having 400000 volume books. It is the center of the medicine documents in the southwest of china.

By 43 years construction, the university has already developed into an higher traditional Chinese medicine university with different types of education systems, including full-time education, adult education, education for minority people, international education and so on. The university is one of the first earliest colleges which can confer master degree (in six majors) and doctor Degrees (in eighteen majors) of TCM, which establish post doctoral degree workshop. Besides undergraduates, post-graduates, it also has students of non-degree, premed.

The university has a group of high level teachers. There are 2018 staff, of which 1237 are specialists, 34 are doctors, 139 are masters and 53 are experts granted national government subsidy, 97 professors, 293 vice professors. It now has 3000 students (276 doctors or masters), including 40 students from HongKong, Macao, Taiwan, America and Europe.
