Acupuncture Treatment for  105 Cases of  Sermatorrhea

In the latest 6 years, the author has treated 105 cases of spermatorrhea by acupuncture, with satisfactory therapeutic effects, which are reported in the following. 

General Data 

Among the 105 cases, the youngest was 21 years old and the oldest was 41 years; The shortest duration of disease was 3 months and the longest was 3 years; 63 cases were unmarried and 42 cases were married. Physical examination did not found any organic pathological change in the genitals. Most patients had spermatorrhea once every other 3-5 days, even once a day and companied of dizziness , tiredness, acratia, lassitude in loin and legs, and other symptoms. Work and study were influenced in severe patients.

Methods of Treatment  

1. Acupoints Selected

Sishencong(EX-HN 11), Guanyuan(CV 14), and bilateral Fengchi(GB 20), Taixi(KI 3), Zusanli(ST 36), Shaofu(HT 8), Xinshu(BL 15) were selected.

2. Manipulation of Acupuncture 　

For needling Sishencong points, the needle was inserted respectively at the anterior, posterior, left and right one cun to Baihui (GV 20) point along the skin to Baihui point, with the needling sensation transmitting from Baihui point towards the surrounding; At acupuncture of Fengchi point, the needle was inserted into 0.8-1.3 cun towards the tip of the nose, with the needling sensation conducting towards the frontal part or the hind head; For acupuncture of Guanyuan point, the needle was inserted obliquely downwards into 1.0-1.5 cun, with the needling sensation transmitting towards the genitals; At Taixi point, the needle was inserted obliquely upwards into 0.5-1.0 cun, with the needle sensation conducting upwards or towards the sole; At Zusanli point, the needle was inserted obliquely upwards into 1.5-2.0 cun, with the needling sensation conducting up wards and downwards; The needle was inserted from between the fourth and fifth metacarpal bone on the dorsum of the hand into Shaofu point, with the needling sensation tr ansmitting upwards and downwards; At Xinshu point, the needle was inserted obliquely downwards into 0.5-0.8 cun, with the needling sensation conducting downwards. Uniform reinforcing-reducing method was applied at Sishencong and Fengchi points, twirling reinforcing method at Guanyuan, Taixi and Zusanli points, and twirling reducing method at Shaofu and Xinshu points after the needling sensation was attained. The needle was retained on Fengchi and Xinshu points for 5 minute s and on other points for 10-15 minutes. The treatment was given once each day and 3 sessions later it was given once every other day, for a total of 8 times.

Criteria of Therapeutic Effects 

Cured: After treatment of 8 sessions, spermatorrhea stopped or number of spermatorrhea reduced to less than 3 times each month, with disappearance of symptoms ; Effective: After treatment of 8 times, number of spermatorrhea reduced, with over 4 times each month and basic  disappearance of symptoms; Ineffective: After treatment of 8 sessions, spermatorrhea and other symptoms did not relieve.

Results of Treatment  

Of the 105 cases, 97 cases were cured, accounting for 92. 4%, 6 cases were effective, accounting for 5. 7% and 2 cases were ineffective, accounting for 1. 9%. The total effective rate was 98. 1%. 

Experience  

Nocturnal emission due to breakdown of the normal physiological coordination between the heart and the kidney, is caused most by intemperance in sexual life leading to deficiency of the kidney-Yin, which can not coordinate upwards the heart, or by over anxiety, which consumes the heart-Yin, leading to flaring-up of heart-fire, heart-fire failing to descend to warm the kidney-Yang, insufficiency of water and excess of fire disturbing the seminal organ, thus, semina can not be firmly stored. The author adopted the therapeutic principle of nourishing Yin to reduce pathogenic fire, keeping balance between the heart and the kidney in function, and strengthening the brain and tranquilization, and selected the crossing point of the Ren meridian and Three Yin-meridians of Foot, and Guanyuan point which is an important point regulating and reinforcing the kidney to strengthe  the essence gate. Taixi point which is the source point of the Kidney meridian of Foot-Shaoyin and nourishes specially kidney-Yin was combined for reinforcing the kidney and nourishing Yin to arrest emission; Zusanli point which is the converging point of Stomach meridian of Foot-Yangming, practically, it is the earth aspect in the earth, was selected for regulating function of the spleen and the stomach, increasing digestive function; Xinshu and the spring point of the heart, Shaofu point were selected for clearing away the heart-fire to relieve mental stress; Sishencong, an important point for strengthening the brain, and Fengchi point has the functions of strengthening the brain, hyponosis and tranquilization. Thus, the kidney-Yin is reinforced, heart-fire is cleared away, water and fire coordinate each other, the mind is tranquilized, essence gate is consolidated, so that nocturnal emission is arrested.
