Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese
Medicine is one of the sixty-six key universities that are approved to accept the overseas
students by the National Education Committee. Its International Education College is a
special institution in charge of training of short and long term for overseas students.
The aim of running a school is to cultivate high-qualified overseas personals of
traditional Chinese medicine with first class education and service. And also it is the
first International Education College among the universities of traditional Chinese
medicine in China. It includes five centers of International Acupuncture Training Center,
Traditional Medicine Collaborations Center, and Educational Center for Traditional
Medicine, Chinese Language Training Center, and Educational Center for Overseas Students.
Among them, the International Acupuncture Training Center is one of the earliest
International Acupuncture Training Centers established in 1975 by the Ministry of Public
Health of the People's Republic of China with the entrustment of World Health Organization
and nowadays has become an important component part of WHO Collaborating Center. Education
Center for Traditional Medicine affords various kinds of short-term training courses of
Traditional Chinese Medicine courses expect acupuncture. Education Center for Chinese
Language supplies Chinese Language education of various degrees, creating qualifications
for overseas students in their further study of Chinese Culture. At the same time,
Educational Center for oversea Students is mainly responsible for educational management
for overseas students who come to China to study for more than one year.
The International Education College has a group of teachers and
translators of English, French, Japanese, Korean languages with rich experience and
teaching ability. It also makes efforts to afford high qualified Chinese Medicine
Education for students based upon overall strength of our universities (five subsidiary
colleges, five departments, seventeen specialties of master degrees, ten specialties of
doctor degrees, three mobile stations of postdoctoral degrees in Traditional Chinese
Medicine, eleven clinical research institutes, eight research centers, three attached
hospitals with 1700 beds, one library with over ten thousands books).
Through hard working for over ten years, our college has trained over
3000 personals of Traditional Chinese Medicine, established cooperative relationship with
more than thirty universities and scientific medical institutions in Japan, Korea, America
and other countries. Over fifty foreign specialists have been assigned as honorary
professors and guest professors.
About 150 specialists go abroad to give lectures and attend
international symposiums each year. Now the college becomes an important window for
international communication in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
