Acupuncture for Menopause

Acupuncture has been used to treat menopausal symptoms  for thousands of years with excellent results in easing  these symptoms without any side effects.        Menopause can be classified into three areas:

1. Lack of yin leading to hyperactivity of yang

2. Blood stasis as a result of qi stagnation

3. A build-up of phlegm and dampness in the body  With menopause, the body goes through a dramatic change.

The principle of acupuncture is to strengthen the individual's body and re-establish a harmonious state of  the body. Acupuncture treatment regulates unstable  hormone levels during menopause. The energy flow is regulated in the body by needling techniques.

According to a report in Yunnan Traditional Chinese Medicine, #5, 1993, 31 women with menopausal symptoms were treated with acupuncture. Eighty-seven percent of the women in this study showed significant improvement from acupuncture therapy.

In western medicine, doctors prescribe hormone  replacement therapy (HRT), but its long-term effects are still unclear. Acupuncture provides women with a safer     alternative.
