Objective:
To investigate the clinical therapeutic effect of self-made pure
Chinese drug plaster, Chun Bao Plaster for the treatment of impotence.
Methods:
Based on the Criteria of Diagnosis and Assessment of Therapeutic
Effects for Impotence issued by Health Ministry of P. R. China, 128
patients were randomly divided into two groups, placebo group abd
treatment group, 66 cases in each group. Chun Bao Plaster consisted of
Radix Bupleuri, Pericarpium Cittri, Reticulatae Vivide, Herba Epimedii,
Fructus Lycii, Scolopendra, which were prepared as plaster with basic
substance and smeared on a cotton, 30g each plaster; and placebo was
made of basic substance with the same color, shape and weight as those
of Chun Bao Plaster. Two groups of patients were treated by double blind
method with Chun Bao Plaster on the umbilical region. It was replaced
every 7 days, and a 14days for one therapeutic course. Treatment was
given for 3 consecutive therapeutic courses. During the treatment, any
drug for treatment of impotence was suspended.
Results:
The cured rate in short term was 40.91% and the total effective rate was
90.91%. Results also indicated that there was significant difference
between two groups (P<0.01).
