Clinical Observation on Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis Active Stage with Clearing Heat, Removing Wind-Damp, Activating Blood Circulation and Dredging Collaterals 

Objective: To treat rheumatoid Arthritis by using TCM method of clearing Heat, removing Wind-Damp, activating blood circulation and dredging Collaterals.

Methods: Patients of rheumatoid arthritis active stage of Damp-Heat BlockCollateral type was taken as objects of observation by single-blinded random control method. The 50 cases in the treated group were treated with Qingbi Decoction (clearing block decoction) by oral, and 90 cases in the control group were treated with modified Xuanbi Decoction (dispel Block Decoction) combined with Sanmiao Powder (Powder with three wonders) l package twice a day. The course of treatment was 2 weeks for both groups, and the efficacy was assayed after 3 courses of treatment.

Result: The effect initiating time in the treatment group was quicker than that in the control group (5.60± l.4l days vs. 9.00±2.58 days). The total effective rate in the two groups were similar (P>0.05), but the cure-markedly effective rate in the treatment group was better than that in the control group (P<0.0l).

Conclusion: TCM method of clearing Heat, removing Wind-damp, activating blood circulation and dredging collaterals has certain superiority in improving the tenderness and motion degree of joint.
