The author of the present paper has used Bazhen Decoction to treat 19 cases of AIDS patients since November of l996 and got a better therapeutic effect in improving clinical symptoms and signs. The l9 cases were negative in HIV test but their sexual companions were positive. Four cases of their sexual companions have died due to AIDS. After oral administration of Bazhen Decoction (Powder or bolus) for 3 months to one year and 6 months, HIV test is still negative in these l9 AIDS patients. My clinical experience showed that AIDS patients' symptoms and signs improved clearly in those who had taken Bazhen Decoction for a period of time; their physical Strength recovered well and the patients could live over a long period of time. Of the patients, CD4 increased significantly and the radio of CD4 and CD8 was improved evidently after one month of treatment with Bazhen Decoction. In 7 cases whose CD4 and CD8 turned normal after treatment, several times’ laboratory examination with more than two methods as enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) showed a negative reaction of HIV in 2 cases. Improve and correct the immune defection, reduce or suppress HIV induced harmfulness to the body. It can also lessen the side effects of western medicines as AZT and enhance their therapeutic effect.
